Please give us a summary of your Career.
I cracked the exam for being a Chartered Accountant in the third attempt and also did my B.Com side by side from Delhi University. Soon, I got a job in Hindustan Petroleum Corporate Limited. I have worked here ever since. Being a transferable job, I have stayed in most of the parts of North India and then got shifted here, to Mumbai with my family. I have preferred consistency in the career. Hence, I did not feel the need to change my job after specific intervals since my company provided me with a good salary and other facilities.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.
As an employee here, I have to attend various types of audits on yearly basis and internal audits on a quarterly basis by visiting the clients’ units established across the country. Hence, most of my time is spent on audits. Whenever I am at the head office, I have to attend the clients’ income tax return works. In addition to that, I also give advice to my clients on various tax-related issues and attend local audits besides preparation of audit reports of completed units. I also have to guide the CA interns, during their internship, by supervising their assignments and other work.

The first and foremost advantage of becoming a CA is that you will never fall short on your income growth. Chartered Accountants are highly paid professionals who can increase their incomes according to their proficiency. All you have to acquire is work competency and the required mindset. You can work from your own city or hometown. Even after retirement, you can open your own firm. Another perk of this profession has no upper ceiling i.e. there is never a shortage of jobs as all other professions require a Chartered Account.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?
The main disadvantage is that the head starts for this profession are quite tough. There is no security that once you clear CPT, you will be a Chartered Account.
