Please give us a summary of your Career.

From very early on in my life, reading and writing were two activities that really interested me. My interest in writing was what I look forward as I worked with small regional journals and newspapers from my region bringing to the fore by means of writeups small lapses on part of the administration, articles like quirky bits on lifestyles, local social problems etc. It was a little later that I became a part of the Dainik Hindustan group, which is where I have spent a major chunk of my career as a journalist.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as co-founder of ZAP Infocom pvt. ltd..

Well, presently I am working on this new startup by the name of ZAP Infocom Pvt. Ltd. ZAP is something that I have started working on quite recently. Along with ZAP, I have also spent the past few years in a publishing venture that I started by the name of ‘Grey Parrot Publications’. See with both the ventures I have been very closely associated in terms of investment and planning and that is exactly what I do on a daily basis and to look for ways to make things work. We plan things out. Every day is about interacting with new people to form business networks, to look for interested investors. ZAP has just been established and by means of it, we are trying to provide services related to printing to the customers. Well, we are working on it, so it will be too soon to reveal everything.

Stress is a part and parcel of such a profession. So, you will have to keep a calm mind and not let adversity get to you.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

Firstly, I can tell from my own experience that working on your own business does help you in the sphere of income. Unlike salaried professions, here, there is no actual limit to your gains. Secondly, again unlike salaried professions, you have a chance to work for your own self. You are actually not dependent on somebody else for your money. Thirdly, it allows you to channel all your skills and talent. From the ability of reading and writing to the maintenance of accounts, business startups require you to be agile and alert.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

It is tough to plan everything in advance since your income is basically dependent on your profits. No profits mean meager income for the period. There is a stiff competition that you face from the already existing established business houses(something that I experienced particularly in terms of Grey Parrot Publications). You have to be on your foot all the time. Be ready to travel distances long and wide in order to meet investors and clients.
