After completing my under graduation, I joined Havells India Ltd. as an R&D Engineer. After getting an experience of about 1-1.5 years in this field, I went to Warwick University to study further. I did an M.Sc in B.E.M and then I worked as a Project Manager in Hi-Tech Industrial for about 2 years. Soon, I left that job and started working in VTech as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for 1.5 years in Hong Kong. After that came Char-Broil as an Engineer Project Manager for 3 years. After that, I worked in Cisco for 11 years. Here, I was a Technical Project Manager for 3 years, then I moved up to a Commodity Manager for 5 years. After that, I worked as a Group Manager for about 3.4 years. Working in Cisco was a really nice experience. I got to learn a lot from this job and meet new people, travel to places, which, overall was a really nice experience. However, I had to leave this job after these many years since I was not satisfied anymore. Now, I work in Philip Morris International, Hong Kong as a Manager Procurement. I have been working here for about 6 months and I look forward to what the future holds for me here.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Manager.

I have worked in Philip Morris International, Hong Kong, China, for about half a year now and it has been a very nice experience. I work as Manager Procurement here. As the name suggests, my job is leading the mechanical category procurement function for IQoS Brand Reduced Risk Products at Philip Morris International. I consider myself to be a good leader and I have led many teams in the past and guided them towards a great win. It is just something about looking forward to new challenges and opportunities that drive me.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

I have learned a lot in these past few years of my life. This profession gives a person so much to look forward to. I get to travel to new places, meet new people for different deals. Meeting so many people has helped me understand that there are so many different insights into a particular problem. I even have gone for recruitment and hiring newcomers for my team and it amazes me what this generation has in store for us. The work culture is also really good and you are given new challenges every now and then.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

This job, however good it might be, one thing that one should be careful for is losing his or her patience easily. It mainly deals with reviewing products and it is not easy to remain calm. One needs to be really extroverted and energetic for this job. If you want a relaxed, laid-back job, then this is certainly not the thing you are looking for. After hours and hours of work, there are times when I do not get to spend time with my family properly but, that is something that I basically signed up for when I entered this profession.
