I had to start working early since in the older days, earning was much more given preference than education. I left my hometown at the age of 18. For around 4 years I worked in Bombay as an electrician. I got an opportunity to fly abroad. I went to Saudi Arabia and I worked as an electrician there for around 6 years in a construction company. Then I had a break for around 1 year. I worked in Kuwait for around a year. Right now, I am in Dubai working in a hotel. My job is to take care of all the maintenance in the electrical division.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Associate technician.
Being the Associate Technician, I have to take care of the responsibilities that they are giving me. I should not break the trust. So right now on a normal working day, I have to reach office on the correct time. Time sense is the most important thing in life. I had to check if any pending works are there if so I have to finish it in the first hours. Then we will have a meeting conducted by the supervisor. We have to tell about the things that we did the previous day. We have to note down all the important things that the manager /supervisor tells. And finish the work in the same day if he insists.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become an Associate technician?
You have to finish the work on time. The clients would be waiting and all the tasks need to be done perfectly. And so, this job has taught me a lot about responsibility. You will not generally face any serious problems in the work environment. Everyone is cooperative. Others understand your problems. They help you whenever it is needed. Your income usually depends on the organisation that you are working. I do not have any problems with it as of now as it is a continuous source of income.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?
You need to handle the work pressure well as you can not afford to have any errors. This can make the job of an Associate Technician very stressful. Being the Associate technician, we have to do a lot of field work. We have to consider our health issues as well. If at all you have any, it is going to trigger you. Some of them do not take up this field because they feel that it is not up to their standards. They think about society and form a preconceived notion about the profession. You may face problems while traveling when you have to go on company calls to different places.

I would generally take the electrical field and try to do a masters degree in it. Then I would probably work in a core technology company. It is a growing field. We will have a lot of opportunities.
