Students from engineering and science background can surely expect a satisfying career in this profession as the job allows you to put all your theoretical concepts into constant practice. The field allows you to be creative and innovative and work with new sets of team members as you might be on a constant move across the country. Naturally, leadership skills emerge and they shape up your personality. Personally, I would say that my job allowed me to be more attentive and observant and to be a good listener. What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as an Electrical Engineer?

Some situations have been full of conflicts in my office which mainly center around decision making, prioritizing and practical solutions to issues. Under such circumstances, one would be required to put in a lot more effort and concentration than what is required under normal circumstances and serve for additional hours. But also, I would say that this is something common for all professions and not just mine, in particular. Lastly, you would be regularly transferred, put into new places, sometimes with family at times away from them. So, if you are not open to traveling and living away from your loved ones, and new ideas and changing work settings then do reconsider your decision of joining this field.
