Please give us a summary of your Career.

I began my career just after completing my graduation. Though I got a chance to pursue my Master’s, my family’s financial structure was not supportive enough to turn my dreams of yore to reality. Thus, I joined as a bank employee at the Centurion Bank, Budge Budge branch. I continued my job for 8 years and had complete job satisfaction but had to quit after that for some personal reasons. Next, I was elected as the Local Councillor in the municipality elections by my common people of my ward in 2010. I was re-elected the second time in 2015.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.

My day starts when the sun rises and my responsibilities end when the moon also decides to rest. As a Councillor, I have to maintain a healthy and good relationship with all the members of my ward. They are like my own family. I treat their problems as my own and try to solve them at the earliest by the municipality schemes. And I have to continue with meetings with my co-workers to take further decisions for improving the conditions of my locality. I even have to go for a road-to-road visit for greetings after Bijaya and during Diwali. Besides, if I cannot make time to meet people and listen to their problems, I try to contact them via phone always.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

Politics is not dirty water and in a developing country like India, I would like to encourage the youth to enter it and open up a new vista in front of us. You can think for the common people and can work for the betterment of our second mother, our motherland. Self-recognition and respect from people is also another factor for which I would encourage people to join my profession.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

There is a lot of job insecurity as you can lose your position and hold in just a single election if you are doing no good to the common people. This also leads to financial instability as the job is insecure definitely, the financial structure may decline at any moment. The work-life balance is disturbed. One may not be able to devote time to the family. Enmity increases and humanity vanishes from the contenders during elections.
