Please give us a summary of your Career.
After completing my Post Graduate, I started working at Bhagwati Hospital at Daltonganj. After 2 years, I relocated to Lucknow. I joined the Cantt Board Hospital and have been working there ever since. Though I have to help my husband in treatment many times at his clinic as he is a doctor himself. Currently, my husband and I both have got offers from AIIMS Delhi and may have to relocate again to start work there.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Orthopedist.
I have specialization in Orthopaedics and so my job as an Orthopedist at the hospital is to treat people having issues with bones or cartilages. As per the severity of the disorder, I advise operation or rest to the patient. Most of my clients are suffering due to lack of proper diet, so enlisting proper diet supplements to them is also my job. In case of a serious issue like a fracture, I provide rehabilitation treatment and even have to operate on the patient of the disorder is really serious in nature. I sometimes assist my husband in complicated cases.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become an Orthopedist?
The wage that the hospital provides per operation is quite handsome. The more work experience you get, the more you would be able to earn. Moreover, helping their needs provides you with inner peace. Having experience in such a profession, you can guide other pursuing the same stream as to how to succeed. The job that I have is one of the most secure ones in the country, so you do not need to worry about being unemployed.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as an Orthopedist?
Nothing hurts me more than seeing faces of the family members of the patient I have failed. Not everyone suffering can be treated but being human, you want to save them all and this usually hurts you. Some serious operations take hours to be successful that really tire you out. The number of people pursuing medical in India has increased manifold. So, unless you have a real dedication and hard work, you cannot win the race.
