Please give us a summary of your Career.
I got the law degree from SDD College of Law in Jagadhri where I learned analytical skills, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, speaking and writing skills. All of these skills are important if you want to become a lawyer. Then, I learned law practice under a skilled lawyer. After that, I started my career as a lawyer in the District and Sessions Court in Jagadhri. I am now at the same court, the working experience here is very good but getting settled in this profession is very difficult.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.
I advise and represent clients in courts, before government agencies, and in private legal matters. I communicate with their clients, colleagues, judges, and others involved in the case. And I conduct research and analysis of legal problems. I also need to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses. I have to present facts in writing and verbally to their clients or others, and argue on behalf of their clients. A part of my responsibilities also includes preparing and filing legal documents, such as lawsuits, appeals, wills, contracts, and deeds. More importantly, I have to choose the right case to work on.

You need to be patient with the process of becoming a lawyer.
What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?
Newly hired attorneys usually start as associates and work on teams with more experienced lawyers. After several years, some lawyers may advance to partnership in their firm, meaning that they become partial owners of the firm. Those who do not advance within their firm may be forced to leave, a practice commonly known as “up or out.” After gaining a few years of work experience, some lawyers go into practice for themselves or move to the legal department of a large corporation. Very few in-house attorneys are hired directly out of law school.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?
A career in law can be demanding and stressful. A few common complaints from legal professionals are long hours, court deadlines, billing pressures, changing laws, high-pressure deals, and difficult clients. If you give in to rising business pressures, continually evolving legal technologies, and the climbing law school debt, it is easy to see why lawyers are sometimes stressed for becoming a lawyer. Hence, you need to be more patient.
