Please give us a summary of your Career.

I started my career as a temporary teacher in a senior secondary school in a village in Kurukshetra. I worked there for three years. After that, I got selected as a permanent teacher in Kurukshetra where I spent five years. Then, I got transferred to a government senior secondary school in Ratangarh, Kurukshetra, I only had teaching responsibilities in the initial 3 years as a teacher. Then, as I slowly became a senior faculty member, I began getting involved in curriculum building and also played a role in preparing question papers. Now, I also act as a faculty adviser in the cultural events of the school.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Government Teacher.

My typical day includes five to six hours of teaching. I teach eight different classes from standard 8th to class 12th. However, my job role does not only include teaching, but I also help organize annual days and sports days, etc. It is important that I oversee and actively help in properly conducting these events in the school. Most of the day is spent in teaching and I also have to make sure that discipline of the school is maintained and students remain in their classrooms and students actively participate in the school activities

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become a Government Teacher?

There are a lot of vacations all the year. Thus, you need not worry about not vacations and holidays. The salary is also good in this profession. If you are getting a government job, then the salary is also good, along with the timings of the school You have to work only 6-7 hours, then you can go home. So there is a flexible working time and you can give your time to your family. Hence, there is also self-satisfaction in this job.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as Government Teacher?

The salary may remain stagnant for some time until you do not have certain years of experience. It can get mundane because you are repeating the syllabus year after year, with minimal changes. It can be difficult to deal with students sometimes and that can also be a cause for your stress over the years.
