What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join the Profession in Railway?
The most important aspect of the current work environment that I am in is that all my co-workers are helpful as we all work together in a team to achieve all stipulated tasks. The job stability in a government job is no doubt noteworthy and is one of the biggest incentives to be a part of this field. There is a lot of financial stability and there are many benefits given to the employees, which adds to the benefits of being in the profession.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in Profession in Railway?
The negatives associated with my profession are quite a few according to me. The basic work environment for the employees like the canteen and washroom facilities at times are not up to the basic standard. Besides national holidays, leave is not always sanctioned even after the notice about 2-3 months before if substitutes are not present.
There is a specific duty hours of 8 hours but often the officials can be called in at any time of the day as per the need. This creates family disturbances at times.
