Please give us a summary of your Career.

I completed my Post Graduation in 1991 from Belgorod State University. After that, I returned home to Ranchi where my elder sister was already a renowned surgeon at the Hill View Hospital and Research Center. I preferred not to join any institutions as I knew that in private hospitals, you get the proper service only if you pay a lot of money. On the other hand, I wanted to help people along with making some money. So, I set up my own clinic in the main market area along with a chemist shop. I have been running the clinic for about 26 years now.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Endocrinologist.

As an endocrinologist, you mostly encounter patients with hormone problems, glandular infections and diseases caused due to such issues. My sole responsibility is to ensure that the treatment I provide makes the person completely fit. I sit in my clinic looking after patients from 10 in the morning to 10 in the night. I have my lunch at my clinic itself. Every day I come across dozens of people who get such disorders only due to lack of rest in their life. Even when I am not in my clinic, I have to address patients who are in serious condition at their home.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become an endocrinologist?

Nothing satisfies my soul more than treating a person who is severely suffering and later see him healthy and happy they ever were. The self-satisfaction that you get from helping people is just overwhelming. Though I hardly pay attention to service fees seeing the customers financial status, if enter this profession with real dedication and hard work, you can really make a lot of money and help people at the same time.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as endocrinologist?

In our convocation ceremony, every doctor takes an oath that he would not turn down any patient. I have always kept that oath no matter what situation I land into. Even if you have taken a day off, you cannot deny the services to a man who has come to your home. Many times I have to attend to patients who are immobilized and treat them at home. Though it is a doctor’s duty, the work can really wear you out.
