Importance of Education
Under-Graduation – B.Tech., Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune
Please give us a summary of your Career.
Firstly, I was not placed in any company from the campus placement of my college. I tried off-campus placement but still did not get any job. So I had to start my own business to sustain myself. The campus placements of my engineering college were extremely poor. Currently, I sit for about 12 hours in my shop attending to customers searching for proper engineering study material and proper stationery. Mostly, the income is just to suffice my expense. Lastly if not for leisure, the profession provides for the basic needs of the family.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.
My job is no less than that of an ordinary stationary vendor. I attend to customers starting at 8 am in the morning. By noon my daily shipment of good arrives, I take account of the goods that arrive and pay the pending balance to the distributor. I receive most customers between 2 am and 6 pm. June and July are the most profitable months, as that is when students seek fresh admissions in the college. During vacation periods, I give out clearance sales offers in order to raise funds for my shops renovation.

Please provide details
The person should be a risk taker as any business requires some amount of instability, especially in the beginning. Thus, you should be confident and consistent in your work.
What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?
First of all, there is no definite income from this business. If you provide quality products at adequate prices, you are sure to succeed. Such jobs usually give you flexibility with your schedule i.e you can attend to other matters leaving your main task aside. The job allows you to have a good knowledge about current customer demands and can help you to shape your career accordingly. You get to know where to invest and where not to.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?
As mentioned earlier, the business yields no definite income and so it becomes quite a risky profession. The items that I sell are prone to damage, if not taken proper care of such as damage by rodents etc. Lastly, any serious incidents like robbery, etc. can ruin your business all at once. As your income increases, you start spending more time in the shop, which results in less time for leisure. Thus, your work-life balance is disrupted to big extent.
