I completed my graduation in B.Com. in 2009 from Vikram University. Parallely, I completed my Professional Competence Course. I backed the CA title in the year 2011. In 2012, I began my professional career as Management Trainee – Financial Planning & Analysis (India) in Genpact India Pvt.Ltd., where I worked successfully for 2 years. Then I worked as Assistant Manager-External Reporting for XL Catlin India Business Services Pvt. Ltd for a tenure of 2 years. I took a change and started my job as a Senior Accountant at Australia New Zealand Bank for 1 year. I moved to Amsterdam where I started my career as an Accountant Contractor Eni International B.V., where I worked for about 6 months. Presently, I am working as an Accountant Contractor for Saipem Contracting Netherlands B.V. With my experience, I would say taking changes helps not only with a hike in salary and position but also lets you try your hand in different work zones of your profession. This makes your career quite interesting.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Chartered Accountant.
My day to day responsibility includes preparation and analysis of the financial statements, compilation/ processing general ledger mutations, and monthly closing and reporting, Preparing dashboards required for board presentations including commentary on variances in actuals and budget/forecast. I also monitor Cash flow/treasury/financial reporting including automation of the files prepared. My area of work also includes reconciliations of the group companies, analyzing/preparing other ad-hoc company reports as required by the group, managing the relationship with the internal and external auditors. My active participation is also registered in preparation of budgeting and forecasts.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join the Profession of Chartered Accountant?
There is no retiring age for this profession. After retirement, one can start their own firm. A good salary at the start of one’s career acts as a magnet for this profession. Also, there is no downfall in this career i.e. with the increasing experience there is always a hike in salary. Being a Chartered Account is a quite reputed profession. Your contribution to the economy of the country is quite significant. Another perk of this profession has no upper ceiling i.e. there is never a shortage of jobs as all other professions require a Chartered Account.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in as Chartered Accountant?
The head start for this profession is quite tough. There is no security that once you clear CPT, you will be a Chartered Account. It requires continuous hard work and patience. If one pursues career one needs to study all through their life. Also, one needs to be quite upgraded to the changes going on to be successful. In the private sector sometimes this profession becomes quite hectic and it becomes difficult to balance work and personal life.

I think being a Chartered Accountant is the most suited profession for my personality. The wide variety of opportunity makes this more interesting. Although the journey the becoming a Chartered Account was quite tedious and hectic but once achieved, it is a wonderful profession.
