Please give us a summary of your Career.

I started my career with the Indian Air Force in 1994 as a technical person. In Indian Air Force, I was responsible for maintenance of HS 748 aircraft in various squadrons of Air Force. Later in 2007, I quit Air Force and joined the AASL, a sister concern of formerly Indian Airlines. Here I got exposure to civil aviation. And I worked on Air Bus Family Aircrafts and on CRJs. In 2012, I switched on to Blue Dart Aviation Ltd for better career prospect. I am happy to be a part of Team Blue Dart. Blue Dart gave me recognition and freedom to work in a friendly environment. I am extremely happy to be with Blue Dart.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

I am responsible for the maintenance of Boeing 757-200 Aircrafts of my company. Airworthiness certification is the primary job in my profile. Troubleshooting and assessment of various technical issues need to be taken in a stipulated time with NIL safety lapses. Individual safety along with equipment safety both are the prime concerns and we ensure both are taken care of in each and every moment of work. Guidelines are given for each and every work to be performed, still, a 100% accuracy and interpretation is must every time you work on any of the aircraft.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer?

As the life is full of adventure and you are encountering different problems in today’s life, so you always feel energetic to solve these issues. You are exposed to new technologies and various up-gradation is taking place each and every day, so the life becomes fresh. People who love to be updated and want to deal with technical problems are happy to be in this field. It is up to the individual how they feel about it. However, most of the people are happy to be with the aviation sector.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer?

Sometimes you need to devote more time to your work as compared to family. As you may be stuck with some technical issues and you need to devote more time to this. At times you need to take a decision in such a situation where a balance is needed between safety and company benefits. But as we know that safety is our prime concern so it has to be given priority. Most of the time you have to take the call for a specific situation all on your own and you have to take the lead and responsibilities for these situations can add pressure sometimes.
