Please give us a summary of your Career.

I hail from Khatolai, a small village near Jaipur, Rajasthan. My father was a Ved (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine), who served the bourgeoisie and the royalties. Since I was born in the British era, I have witnessed my nation’s independence. As a result, I understood the importance of Sovereignty when I was a child and hence decided to join the Indian Army. I promised myself to keep the tiranga waiving freely. Thus, I left my home when I was 18 to become a soldier.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.

I am currently an entrepreneur, who supplies goods to the Army. When I enrolled myself in the army, I was only 18 years old. Thus, I underwent rigorous training and mental stress to become what I am today. I have fought Indo-Pak 2 and Indo-Pak 3 wars. During the civil war, I was also sent to Sri Lanka with the relief forces. I was shot in my leg during Indo-Pak 2 and stayed alone for 3 months without being in touch with my family. I have also diffused a human bomb at Indore. My job responsibilities included- physical and mental fitness, vigilance, diligence, sturdy heart, and complete dedication.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

Some of the positives of the army are it gives us a good pay. Although all the army men consider it their duty and not a profession, yet when it comes to the positives a good salary is what most of us consider. The Indian Army, with the name, comes its reputation in the society. The awards or the designations all speak for itself. Another positive aspect of this profession is that we get to travel a lot. So, if you’re a rolling stone then this may a suitable profession.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

Some of the negative aspects of this profession are that we cannot spend the desired time with our family and might have to stay away from them for as long as the situation demands. Another major drawback is that we put our lives at risk, the risk of life or even risk of health. We have to be prepared for the worst situations to give our best shot. Besides that, there is no fixed time or fixed schedule of work that we have to follow. It is all unplanned and we have to mold ourselves according to the situation.

Even today, if I’m taken back to the 12th standard, I would choose the same profession because it gave me an identity, a name in the society and made me a true Indian and hence I was able to serve my nation.
