Please give us a summary of your Career.
After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I decided to do something of my own. I started off with a ready-made garment shop and Aloe-Vera farming. It was a small start but it gave me the skills I needed to take on other ventures as well. It was my job to oversee every aspect of the job. This made my daily schedule quite hectic. I was a government road contractor as well. Finally, I opened up a bar and bought a franchise of a quick-dine restaurant called Bangs. I also have a sub-dealership from Honda.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as bar-restaurant Owner.
I oversee all aspects that there possibly can be- I have to manage the finances and the overall budget of the bar-restaurant, keep a check on the inventory costs, food and labor costs. I manage all the staff members and see to it that all the guests that come to the restaurant are happy and satisfied with the food, service and overall ambiance of the place. AlsoI try to bring something new to the menu in small, unique ways, be it deals like ‘happy hours’ or a unique dish. However, the most important aspect would be keeping the standard high and constantly strive to improve on it.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become a Bar-Restaurant Owner?
I get to meet new and different kind of people every single day. It gives you the opportunity to connect with people through the most universal language there is, food. It is your own venture which will make you, the deciding factor in all its aspects- its growth, the kind, and quality of the food you want to serve. You also have to keep incorporating the latest trends and styles in your food as well.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering starting own bar-restaurant?
Daily schedules can be erratic, which will take a toll on your personal life. It can also get very stressful because all the responsibilities ultimately lie on your shoulders. There is constant competition and there may be a time where you do not make any profits. It can be difficult to deal with such a time. You absolutely need all the financial backing when starting out, which can be the downside of the profession.
