What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

Being in Sales is like running your own small business. Because you are responsible for your growth and the subsequent profits. Career prospects are a lot in this field with a lot of scopes to grow. You have the opportunity to meet a wide range of people. Where you get to learn about different cultures as well. There is personal development in terms of handling difficult situations that really makes one independent in nature. And ready to face adverse conditions. And also there are better income prospects and higher chances of recognition in the organization. There is freedom to work though you have to multi-task and should have the ability to multi-task.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

Sales suffer from somewhat of an image problem, and most people will be able to tell you about the disadvantages, in their mind, of working in sales. Sales, if done right, is a stressful endeavor. You’ll be expected to put in a lot of effort. You will have a lot of pressure from all sides; your boss, your colleagues, and your prospects will all want something from you at all times. Add to this the targets, the unpredictability of your prospects or clients, holiday seasons, and the market, and you have a great recipe for quite a stressful job. There’s paperwork, planning, and organizing to do, all of which is your responsibility. It’s an all-consuming job precisely because the responsibility is very high and it rests upon your shoulders. Sales pay is variable and is usually commission-based. This means you only get paid as well as you perform.
