Please give us a summary of your Career.

I started my work in BDA (Bangalore Development Authority as a 1st Division Assistant. I worked there for about 5 years. Then I went on to work in GKVK i.e., Gandhi Krushi Vigyana Kendra for 2 years. I then came to work in BBMP as a 1st Division Assistant for about 2 years. Then, I was promoted and posted as a Superintendent to the Endowment Department of Karnataka. After 3 years of work in endowment, I went on to work in INEP. I was shifted to a lot of departments internally in every sector. I then was appointed in the BBMP Office as an Account Superintendent and also was promoted as an Audit Officer. Then I got transferred to PU Board of Karnataka. I retired in 2012 after 32 years of service.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Accounts Superintendent.

As an Accounts Superintendent, my job responsibilities was motivating, developing and providing assistance to the finance team. I was the leader of all the levels in the Finance Department. I used to monitor the books of accounts and handled the transfer of information to the required officials. Also I did frequent audits and made required reports about it. My team and I helped in ensuring that we deliver effective and efficient administration and financial services to internal and external users to the books of accounts.

Normally, people who work in the same profession as mine prefer to have more increments and expect quick promotions just based on time.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to become an Accounts Superintendent?

There are a lot of perks given by the government like entertainment allowances are provided, leave travel confessions such As LTC/LTA are provided for Accounts Superintendent and we also have an option to commute our pension and need not pay much tax. Other allowances such as house rent allowances, children’s education allowances, hostel and transportation allowances are also provided. Job security, rent free accomdation, domestic servant and also concession on gas, electricity and water supply bill are also provided. You will also receive a lot of recognition in your family and from the society, in general.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as Accounts Superintendent?

My profession is already a lot stressful as we do not receive too many incentives that would make the work environment easier to deal with like flexible timing, transportation, and food. There is no proper infrastructure and advance technology such as computer Improved software are my being utilized. The other co-workers are competitive and can be very demotivating as they may not be following rules in the office. Abiding by the transfers is also another headache.
