I first joined as an electrician in Siliguri in 1990. Then after working there for a few years, I got a job at the air force base. I joined there as an electrician. Presently, I am designated as an Elect/MCM. But, I reached this level with my hard work. My job responsibility is to control all the power stations. My job is also to head my team and supervise other’s work. I have been working here for 25 years.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.
I work 8 hours a day. I also have night shifts sometimes. At times, there are urgent calls i.e., emergency office calls during off days and holidays. It’s also my responsibility to supervise my junior team.

Some of the positives, which would encourage someone to consider this career are as follows:
Firstly, as the individuals are centrally recruited, the job is very secure.
Secondly, the income is good. We also receive a large number of incentives.
Thirdly, after retirement, there is an assured flow of income known as a pension.
Fourthly, the work culture is very nice.
Fifthly, it gives a sense of pride as you are being linked to the airforce. The force which is bestowed with the responsibility to control the air traffic of the whole country.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?
Some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering this job are as follows:
Firstly as it is a transferable job. Often, I will be transferred and sent to the interior or remote parts of the country. Thus, it becomes very difficult to survive after leaving the luxurious city life.
Secondly, if an urgent situation pops up, you might be called up even when you are on your holiday.
