Please give us a summary of your Career.
I started working in my family business when I was very young. I started off with just one department under me. My employees respected me because I was the family heir. However, I wanted to earn their respect through my actions. So I worked very hard at my job. I went on to handle manufacturing and trading throughout the country and with China as well. When the time came, I took over the reins of the company. It has now been thirty-six years since I’ve been working for the company.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join the Manufacturing Profession?
You can do a lot of networking in this field. You constantly meet and
work with individuals doing great, innovative work in the field and it feels nice to interact with them. You also get to exercise your innovative mind and put those ideas into being. In this industry, the products we make are not luxury products. Rather, we make basic products, which are used by everyone in the country, not only the rich but also the common man. It is satisfying when you make high-quality products of everyday use in India, which people can use instead of the foreign made products.
What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in Manufacturing Profession?
The industry is very dynamic. There are constant fluctuations linked directly to public policy and it can get extremely confusing and frustrating. The Annual Budget List, policies like demonetization etc. have had a devastating impact on the company. There is also tons of legality involved in the work. Import and export laws are extremely complicated, and the importance of a great lawyer cannot be undermined here. Import and export taxes also take away a major chunk of company funds every year.
