Please give us a summary of your Career.

I started my career with State Bank of India in 1989. My first posting was in Patharia, District. Bilaspur (Chattisgarh) as a clerk. From then on, I have been working for State Bank of India. In 2004, I was promoted to officer level. And also I have served State Bank of India in several branches like Jabalpur, Neemuch, and Bhopal as a Branch Manager. Once I was posted to the local head office, in State and Premises Department, located in Bhopal.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities.

I am currently serving as the Chief Manager at State Bank of India, New Friend’s Colony, Surya Plaza Branch, New Delhi. My day to day responsibilities include managing and looking after the work of the junior staff of the branch. I basically take follow-ups from them. Also, I have to take care of the marketing of various bank products and sell them to respective customers. Basically I act as a connection between my junior staff and senior officers. I also present my branch’s progress and workings in front of my colleagues and senior officers.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

The positive aspect of this job is income, security, stablity, and less stress. People often take income as a priority and banks not only provide modest income, but also other added benefits. Though the basic income for every individual may seem less, the added benefits make it really worth. This job is also secure and stable. They have to work for a definite time and can also take holidays as and when required.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

The foremost negative in this field is the increasing competition in the banking sector. With the rise of private banks, stress is increasing day by day. It is unhealthy. This is also leading to frauds and forgery by customers. In recent times, this stress has increased several times due to government policies and effects.
