Please give us a summary of your Career.

Since my 12th class, I was passionate about becoming a doctor. I completed my MBBS in 1997. I got married after that and did my post graduation i.e MS from 2001-04 after having my children. Although it was not a cake walk to continue to study after marriage, yet I never faltered because I wanted to become independent and become an example for my children. I was posted in Bhilwara which is a small village in Rajasthan. I lived there with my daughter for a year. My first experience was dynamic, invigorating and resourceful which I carried on in my life ahead.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Gynaecologist/ Doctor.

I currently work in Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Hospital in Jodhpur as Gynaecologist.  Every day, I try and wake up by 7 am to workout and get ready for work. I work from 10 am till 3 pm and sometimes even after that in case of any unforeseen emergencies. Always, I feel blessed to practice this profession because we bring life to this world and save lives as well. I work all days of the week not to earn money but to earn respect and spread humanity in this world.

There are many positive aspects of this profession. Being a doctor is not a mere profession but an obligation towards the society. Moreover, it is the work ethic and patience that is required to handle tedious tasks with the utmost grace. Besides, the soft behaviour towards patients is necessary so that the hope of recovery is always there. It is rightly said that the first impression is the last impression.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as Gynaecologist (Doctor)?

Some of the negative aspects of the profession can be unorganized working hours and mental stress. Moreover, it is mandatory that a doctor is able to scrutinize the situation and react accordingly. It is not a work for money minded people because there is no price of a human life. Dentists and veterinary doctors have a similar salary as well. To conclude, I would say that with passion in your heart and a dream in your eyes, you can conquer the world.
