Please give us a summary of your Career.
I am a Senior Fashion Designer. I have been working as a full-time fashion designer for the past 10 years. Two years ago I started doing freelance work and have been working on it ever since. I am into Western and Indo-Western clothes. I also customize garments for my clients.
Since I am doing freelance work now, I am able to invest some time into my own business. I design party-wear garments, cocktail gowns, chick-wear and stylish lehengas. My apparels are based on hand-embroidery.
Since I have been working for the past 10 years, I have a good team of tailors and hand-embroidery workers. In the future, I am hoping to open my own brand. I am really ambitious in relation to my work.
Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Fashion Designer.
On a normal workday, I have to deal with my clients and talk to them about my designs know all the minute details for the designs to be produced just the way they’d like it to be. According to the range that my clients give me, my clothes have to be designed within that range itself. Once the range is given to me and once I am specified as to how to go about designing the fabric, I start sketching it on paper. I figure out the color combination of the fabric. Having to figure out the Colour-combination is one of the most integral parts of designing. I then tell my Khaka Master ( tailor) to make Khaka for that particular design. After Khaka the next process involved is embroidery and dying of the garments. You have to explain it to your tailor as to how to proceed further with the design. This, in short, are some of my regular responsibilities.
