Please give us a summary of your Career.

I first started my career through an internship in HackerEarth in 2013. HackerEarth is a company set in Bangalore which serves as a software developer in innovation management.
After the internship, I joined HackerEarth as a permanent member in software development and worked there for more than two years.
After leaving HackerEarth, I joined Red Hat Inc. which is an American multinational software company. I joined in 2015 as a software developer. I am working there at present as a Core OS Community Tools Engineer.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as an Applications Engineer.

I work on building the Fedora CoreOS operating system. My job responsibilities include software development, design, implementation, and interaction with the systems.
We bring in products for a changing world. We design and develop software for platforms and other applications.
My job responsibilities also include reviewing and contributing to specifications in areas where hardware decisions impact the software.
My main job responsibility also includes releasing engineering applications for Fedora.

The best thing about this profession is that I get to build and work on new technologies. This keeps me updated in the world of information.
Another benefit of this field is that I get to work with the sharpest minds in the field of Computer Science. I get to learn a lot of things from them not only technically but also personally.
The happiness to see someone using your product first-hand and that automation gives satisfaction and helps in building other products.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career as IT / Applications Engineer?

There are a few cons of this profession. You need to always be on your toes and learn the next big thing that is coming up in the industry failing in which even for a single time may lead to degradation of quality.
Work-life balance is a lot dependent on the companies, and most companies don’t have a very good work life balance
Long hours of office work gives you a lot of health issues if you don’t take care of your health properly.

I don’t really know, I loved computers when I was in class 10. I’m a jack of all trades, master of none, so it is a bit difficult to judge.
