I joined Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) in December 2009 as Assistant Systems Engineer (Trainee) in Kolkata. After completing the Initial Learning Program of TCS, I joined the project which works with different types of estimation methodologies. My task was primarily assigned as a developer to develop and build those estimation models.
Later my role changed to team lead to operate the small development chunk and ensure proper release. This project helped me to grow from a trainee to a lead.
After spending 5 years in that project, I had to move to Delhi-NCR for personal reasons. This time the project was in the life-science domain and we had to support the overall process of drug development where I worked as a project lead managing the customer interaction with a team of 10 associates.
Later I joined back TCS Kolkata with a project from Mining Domain, where I am working currently as a Project Manager managing 3 projects.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as Project Manager.

I am working as Project Manager and there are 3 projects in my portfolio. My domain is Mining and the I manage teams that are for level 1, 2 and 3 support for US-based customers. I am also managing software development work in parallel.
My primary responsibility is Project Management, which involves day-to-day interaction with the customer, understanding their requirements, reporting, getting sign-off of any work done.
My other responsibility is for team/resources management, which is essentially managing 20 associates, who report to me. Their appraisal process, their day to day issues in terms of delivery or any professional guidance they require, they look up to me.
