Please give us a summary of your Career.

I started my career in April 2000 at Balbir Power Generation Private Ltd in Jamshedpur as an Account Assistant.
Then I went to Delhi and while pursuing MBA worked in NCCV New Delhi as a Telemarketing Executive in the credit card division.
In 2002, I joined GE Country Wide Consumer Financial Service and served as a leader in the loan department for 3 years. In 2005, I left the firm and worked for a few months in Bajaj Alliance as an LIC Agent.
Later In 2006, I joined Mithila Motors Ltd as a Front Office Executive.
In 2010, I joined my present company as an office administrator.

Please describe your current Job Responsibilities as assistant manager.

I presently serve in my company as an assistant manager in the Human Resource Department. Thus my work mainly deals with the maintenance files of employees. My prime responsibility being an Assistant Manager is to assist the Senior manager in coming up with incentives that can be offered to the employees. Another prime responsibility of mine is to take care of the attendance sheet of the East Zone which comprises of approximately 1700 employees. I also take care of the salary sheet. I am in charge of reconciliation of salary and billing attendance. And I also supervise the joining formalities of the freshers and settlements of people who leave.

What are some of the positives, which would encourage someone to join your Profession?

Income in the HR department is considerably good. Also, it is a job that requires minimal physical exertion and more office work. It thus promises a high pay with less physical work. Most companies these days ensure health and travel insurances for the employees’ which help a great deal in times of need. Also, the respect and social recognition which comes with the post are one of the most alluring things about the job.

What are some of the negatives that you would want someone to be aware of when considering a career in your Profession?

The workload in this profession sometimes becomes immense which often affects the personal lives. It becomes difficult to maintain a balance as the working hours tend to exceed sometimes. The work culture is moderate and competitive as each employee is driven by a motive of promotion. In the private sector, exploitation of workers is not uncommon to see. One has to keep his or her emotional self in control and act according to the orders in the interests of the firm.
